Algorithm and figure demonstration of the C2M distance computation
Hi Daniel, I attach a figure from your dissertation and I am curious if that figure is used to explain the cloud to mesh idea? If a point P is on my compared clouds, how will CloudCompare to search the closest distance between P point to my reference mesh object? Please let me know if you have more ...

Where to find the maximal error after C2C or C2M analysis
Hi All, I would like to know how to find out where the maximal error located in my model after I compare two objects using C2C or C2M methods. After the comparison, the color on the object can only roughly tell us the errors on it. However, if I want to the exact location that the maximal error happ...

Re: Root mean square and root mean square error
Thank you for the reply. When I do C2C comparison for my models, I will get the mean and the standard deviation. Do you mean I can directly calculate the root mean square error based on the mean and the standard deviation that I got in the console? Or, I have to use the way that you mentioned: (with...

Root mean square and root mean square error
Hi, I know the Cloudcompare uses the RMS difference (error) to align two objects. If my objects are already aligned by other software, can Cloudcompare calculate the "Root mean square" or "Root mean square error" for two different objects (one is for reference and the other one n...

The mean value of C2M result
Hi, I would like to know when I compare two objects using C2M and the "signed distances" is activated. Then, will the mean distance value show the canceling between the positive distance and negative distance? If the "signed distances" is not activated, are the result similar to ...

Re: Comparing two different objects
For the C2C, I subsample the mesh for both of the mesh. For the C2M, I subsample the compared cloud. Before comparing, I use the auto align tool to align the mesh (reference rib) and cloud (compared rib), and I set the RMS difference to 1e-10. Would it be ok? For the C2M, I show the reference rib an...

Comparing two different objects
Hi I want to compare two human ribs (Fig 1) reconstructed by two different software, both of them are STL file. In Fig 1, left rib is taken as reference object. I do C2C (Fig 2) and C2M (Fig 3) comparison, and the unit is meter. Both of the mean (0.0962cm for C2C, 0.034cm for C2M) and the standard d...

Re: Cloud to cloud distance compared method
Thank you so much for the reply. I have three more questions described as follows, 1. I have read your paper recently, and you mention the equation as can been seen in Figure 1. However, it seems that the equation is a little bit different from the definition of Haussdorf distance. The equation you m...

Cloud to cloud distance compared method
Hi I would like to know more about how can Cloudcompare do the histogram. As mentioned at page 108 in user manual (2.6.1), Hausdorff distance is applied. If I have two point cloud sets, I think I only can find one Hausdorff distance value for this two cloud sets. If this is correct (or wrong), how c...
