M3C2 mean and standard deviation

Post by Adam »

Hi :)

Is the mean in the histogram of M3C2 considered as the ''average distance'' or mean distance between the two clouds? and what is the standard deviation represent?
I have tried C2C absolute distance to check and I have the same standard deviations but very different means. Mean from M3C2 is 0.003 mm and from C2C is 0.077 mm.
what are ''significant change'' and ''distance uncertainties'' from M3C2 outputs? is significant change mean the changes between two clouds

thanks

Mind that C2C distances are 'unsigned'. This 'folded' distribution can therefore have a very different average value than the 'signed' one (as output by M3C2 for instance).

Otherwise I'll let you dig a little more in the plugin wiki documentation and the associated article ;)
