Hello Daniel (et al),
First of all congratulations and thank you for this amazing piece of software.
Secondly what are the recommendations one should follow to assemble a machine that can deal with 500 Million points?
I will be building a new workstation and wanted it to run CC very smoothly with clouds of that size.
My workflow involves segmentation, sub-sampling of some areas, and then merging and meshing the scans to process further in other software tools.
My workload varies from a couple of rooms, to whole city blocks, and I would like to get a very responsive machine that will allow me to work even with half-a-billion points if possible.
At present I have two options that are the same (1tb m.2 raid 0, 12tb spinner for long term storage, RTX 2080 TI 11GB) but for the processor, and RAM:
Threadripper 2990W, with 128GB Ram
OR
Dual processor 18 core Xeons, but with 256/512GB Ram?
I can't decide!!!

Re: Recommended computer setup
Ah ah that's huge! It's hard to choose, but for meshing the more memory the better! After I don't know if the algorithm has some internal limits that would make so much memory useless (maybe other users have some experience with such big clouds/meshes).

Re: Recommended computer setup
Yes I need to mesh some huge areas at times.
I'll update this in a couple of months when I put it together :)
Again, thank you, and all the contributors so much for this software
