[Done] Leica PTX reader

Post by jason3d »

Can you add ability to import Leica PTX format. It is the only format I can export from faro scene that retains the individual scans mesh connections, as an ordered point cloud. It's no fun relying on meshlab to convert ptx to obj to use in cloudCompare. And to add, thanks for the free great piece of software. I have found it so useful cleaning and viewing pointclouds and meshes.

Sorry for the approval delay, I've had issues with the forum lately.

And for the PTX integration, I can't promise anything as there's much more things in the TODO list than we can handle right now. I'll try to push things a little though.

Just for the records, the PTX format is handled since version 2.5.4.

This is long overdue, I haven't been in the forumns in a while. Thankyou for adding ptx import, very impressive how well you maintain and update your software.

Hi Everyone,

On this topic I would like to ask if anyone has any knowledge of how the .bin files exported from, say, the leica P20 are encrypted ? Currently these bin files have to be converted into ptx format via leica's own "Cyclone" program. Does anyone know if it's possible to avoid using Cyclone to do this ?

Regards,
Rob
