Maximum accessible RAM in CC

Post by Apocalyps »

After searching wiki info, CC manual, and the forums -- both here and GitHub -- for "max RAM", "RAM limit", "RAM restriction", I was unable to locate any listing of maximum accessibility of RAM for CC. I have a computer currently running W10 64-bit w/64GB RAM. On a recent cloud, the RAM use was capping at 64GB, so I wondered if expanding the RAM up to 128 or 256 would make any difference.

I already know both my OS and MB can accept and recognise the increased RAM, but before pulling the trigger on the additional RAM purchase, I want to know if CC would recognise it and/or if CC places a restriction on RAM -- and if so, to what limit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Apoc

So there's no RAM limit. CC will use everything it can. BUT there's a limit on the number of points per cloud. The theoretical limit is 2 billion points per cloud. But I wouldn't play with clouds above 1 billion already, as some algorithms may fail after this limit.
