Hi Daniel,
I have a point cloud covering the railways. I try to extract railways and objects. can you tell me how could I do that in CloudCompare? Thanks!

Re: Railways from las
I would probably try to do that with Canupo: https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... O_(plugin)
You will have to train a classifier by providing a cloud with samples of rails only, and samples of other points (without any rail) so that it can learn the difference. Of course you'll have to select the right scales (sorry, you'll have to dig in the documentation of Canupo ;).
Don't hesitate to send me a cloud so that I can try it on my side and see what's possible (admin [at] cloudcompare.org)

Hi,
Did any more research ever happen related to this question? I'd like to know, since I am attempting a quite ambitious classification of a railroad scene using cloudcompare and would like to know more about what kind of scales work for different object types and sizes. If I figure anything out I'll report back, but if there's any news I'd be very interested in hearing them :)
