Lock clipping box ?

Hello,
I am trying to register several scans of a building interior. The ceilings etc are getting in the way of being able to precisely see doorframes etc to align them or to pick point pairs. Clipping the scans down to about 4' off the floor so they could be viewed as a true floor plan would make this much easier but there doesn't seem to be any way to "lock" the clipping planes on each individual scan in order to be able to do that. How do I display the scans as clipped down without actually creating a new object each time ? I don't want to physically crop them as I still need the ceiling part.

Hum, you could export the Z coordinate as a scalar field, and then use the ability to hide points based on the scalar field value? (with the scalar field display properties, the second tab in the SF params properties in the 'Properties' dialog below the DB tree).
