Software lag due to large file size

Hi,

I am trying to work on point clouds which is pretty large in size(15GB and 25GB). CC crashes/lags a lot when the files open. Please let me know if dividing the file into 3-4 parts would help? My system is pretty strong with 32 GB of RAM and intel 4 cores processor to handle large sized files but somehow these dont work.

32Gb of memory for such big files doesn't seem that comfortable to me (Windows already uses a lot RAM...). So definitely, diving the number of points is a good idea.

Also, mind that there's an absolute limit of 2 billion points per cloud. But clearly, above 1 billion points, it's almost impossible to use the graphical version of CloudCompare, unless you have a beast of a graphic card, with a lot of VRAM.
