Adjusting color scale to the distance

Post by Grzmocislaw »

Hello,

I want to set the color scale in a way that distances within certain values have different colors.

I have a point cloud of a certain building scanned this year and two years ago.

I calculated the cloud to cloud distances using the older cloud as a reference.

Now I would like to color the cloud in a specific way:

points that are within 1 cm from the reference cloud - green
points that are from 1 cm to 10 cm - yellow
points that are farther then 10 cm - red

And here is my problem: for unknown reason the black color appears and I don't know what it means.
I tried to do as @Daniel suggested in this topic: https://danielgm.net/cc/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1712

So I created a sliders from 0 to 0.01 which are both green
then from 0.011 to 0.099 which are both yellow
and finally from 0.1 to 1 which are red.

Now I wonder what I did that some of my points are black.

I would be grateful for help or pointing me in the right direction. I tried to play with Color Scale steps but it didn't help (or I didn't notice)

Hum, weird.

Can you maybe first export the color scale as a .xml file and share it here?

Or better, save your cloud as a .bin file and share it with me? (admin[at]cloudcompare.org)

Thank you @daniel for your reply. I sent you an email with a link to the point cloud.

I think it may be some kind of a graphical issue. When I opened the .bin file I sent to you, the colors looked niece. But when I switched to a different color scale and then came back to "Blue>Green>Yellow>Red_copy", the point cloud looked like in the image:
