hi Daniel,
I want to report a bug, when a cloud has no RGB colour, and I assign it any unique colour or an HSV colour (after calculating the normals) if I try to save the LAS file the controbox RGB and the controlbox Normals(AsExtraScalarfiled) box are not activated (in the "LAS Save Options").
If instead I import a cloud with colour, delete the colour and assign a unique colour then the option to save the cloud in LAS also has the option of saving the RGB colour.
thanks
Mariolino
Bug - saving colours in LAS file
Re: Bug - saving colours in LAS file
I can't reproduce this problem (with version 2.13.beta from the 18th of January).
Were you using an older version maybe? Maybe you can check that the 'version' and 'point format' (first tab) are sufficient to save RGB colors?
Should be at least version 1.2 and format 2 I believe.
Else, don't hesitate to send me the original file (without colors) for me to test (admin@cloudcompare.org)

Re: Bug - saving colours in LAS file
hello Daniel,
you are right! Depending on the version of the LAS file the different options are activated, in particular I was getting the default version 1.4 sub 6 which doesn't allow colour and extra field, changing to sub 7 works. I attach if needed for other users the complete table for colour, extrafield, waveform support.
Many thanks

Re: Bug - saving colours in LAS file
So by default, did CC chose the point format 6 while there were some colors on your cloud?

Re: Bug - saving colours in LAS file
Hi Daniel
this is a cloud with assigned color inside CC. Original was 1.4 sub 6, but after addinc color don't promote to sub xx during saving with supported color.

Re: Bug - saving colours in LAS file
Thanks for the sample. That should be fixed now (https://github.com/CloudCompare/CloudCompare/pull/1950).
I'll upload a new version this week-end (or even the stable 2.13 release if everything goes as planned!)
