Color From Scalar Field

Post by BIMjoshv »

I am attempting to colourise points based on their classification.
I have selected the point cloud, gone into the Menu > Edit > Colours > "Color From Scalar Fields".
There are four catergories; Red, Green Blue and Alpha.
For Red, Green and Blue, i have selected classiifcation in the adjacent dropdown list.
I have then adjusted the sliders (as well as manual numeric entry) to suit my desired out put (eg Red = between 1 and 2.5).
Despite several attempts, after clicking Apply, the appearance is never as expected.

I have tried different options for Alpha, but although this changes the appearance, it's not as desired.

I am confident it's my level of knowledge and not a bug, would appreciate some assistance please.

So you should definitely set the Alpha component (= transparency) to a fix value (255).

For the others, it all depend on what you were trying to achieve.

Another option (maybe simpler) is to defined your own color scale with 'Edit > Scalar field > Color Scale Manager' (to define your own custom color scale). See https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... es_Manager

You can then convert the scalar values (with the active color scale) to RGB with 'Edit > Scalar field > Convert to RGB'.
