CC vers.2.4_06_24_2012 will not run

Hi,

Just tried the newest versions of CloudCompare and CCViewer and they don't on my machine. It gives an error:

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more details.

Previous version works. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,

it appears to happen for several other users.

1st thing to try:
- install the "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package for (x64)" (you can find it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... laylang=en). If it's already installed, uninstall it and then re-install it.

I tried a lot of installing/deinstalling. However, I got the same problem. The C++ RP SP1 is not shown as SP1 under installed programs. See picture. What about all the other packages?


The 32bit version works, so no hurry.

Hum, I'm quite astonished to see how many people have this problem, while the project is compiled with Microsoft tools on a Microsoft OS...

I'm currently trying to generate the whole project with Visual 2010 instead of Visual 2008 (as it seems that it's the heart of the problem).

Meanwhile, you can still use the 32 bits version as before. I hope I'll get a running version soon.

I'll upload in a few hours a new version (compiled with MSVC2010) that fixes the issue.
