can't open pcd files

Hello everybody!

I recently (10 mins ago) downloaded cloud compare using this method : https://bintray.com/ornis/CloudCompare/ ... dmore#read.
I'm on Wily Werewolf distrib.

But when I try to open pcd files, I have the error [Load] Can't guess file format: unhandled file extension 'pcd'.
Do someone know how to fix it?

I believe PCL was not available in the packages of Ubuntu 15.10 (or something like that - Romain would tell you more about this).

Therefore the PCD format (which requires PCL) can't be read by this version.

I bet you can compile it yourself to overcome this issue?

That's strange, cause i'm actually working with PCL on ubuntu 15.10.

I'll wait Romain's answer and do as you said. I'll uninstall then compile it myself. But it's kinda sad :'(

If i'm the Beta Tester, i'll report anything I saw.

There is still a problem when opening and saving PCD, rgb values are not taken. So objects appear with default color, and they lost the informations when saved.

You can report anything you see :) If you think it's related to the package or Linux dependent, I should try to answer.
According to the code of qPCL, it's not the normal behavior, RGB values should be loaded. Unfortunately I'm not an user of this plugin and I haven't any environnement to reproduce your "bug" so I can't tell you more.

I have the same problem on the Mac build 2.7.

Is there a Mac build available that opens .pcd?

Nope, PCL is not properly supported on Mac OS.
