Exporting Contour Lines to a format that can be used in Matlab

Post by czo17 »

Hello,

I am new to CloudCompare and I am working on a project to quantity the difference between two point clouds. I found that that multiple contour lines can be generated from "Cross Section" tool of CloudCompare and I am thinking if it's possible to export these contour lines to a format that can be used in Matlab where I could possibly do edge detection and some quantification of difference between the two contour lines. Is there any way about it?

Alternatively, I am aware of a tool "Cloud to Cloud Distance" which gives the distance difference for each point but is there is a way to quantify the volume difference between the two point clouds/ meshes?

Cheers! =)=)

There's a '2.5D Volume calculation tool' that will let you compute the volume difference between two clouds (with some conditions). See https://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/i ... .5D_Volume
