Best scanner to use with CloudCompare

Hi guys, can You telk me wich scanner is best to use with CloudCompare? I'm going to measure volume of stockpile of various soil. Piles are big, about 10-15m high. I want to calculate mass and specific gravity of material. Idea is to record checkpoints of a pile and to calculate mass using CloudCompare.

Pretty much anything, I think. Depends on your specific needs (budget, resources, speed of field and computation work, etc, etc.). You don't seem to even need a scanner and can even just start with photogrammetry, walking around taking pictures with your cellphone or instaling cameras around the piles set to capture at certain intervals, maybe even a drone if you feel fancy. Sounds quite suitable for automatization even (using CC's command line mode).
