HI,
I hope somebody can assist. I have been using CC on my laptop for quite a while and it works great. (i7 with quadro 3000m) However on my new PC the app crashes or becomes non responsive on startup. I have tried all the versions available with the same result, compatibility modes, administrator all of those. Can anybody confirm whether CC runs on i9 9900 with an RTX 2080 8GB GDDR6. Any help will be appreciated

Jasper

Are you sure the NVidia card is used? (and not the integrated chipset - if any).

Hi Daniel,

Pretty sure it is using NVidia card. I have enabled relevant card functions also in the Manage 3D settings for the app. I have noted other people also having the problem. In some cases it was resolved by lower the resolution from 4K to 1080P. In my case I am running at 1080 so not that...This is a pity. Really needed this for a project I am working on... This is the first application on my new PC to give problems, all other run perfectly fine so cannot be something seriously wrong. I also updated the NVidia drivers but no change.

So can anybody perhaps confirm if cloud compare works with the MSI GEFORCE RTX 2080 graphics card? Only thing I can think of is some incompatibility there. Just shows the splash screen and outline of app before becoming unresponsive...

Which version are you trying to run by the way?

Hi Daniel,

I have tried both 2.10 and 2.11 as well as 2.6 and 2.9 that I had. All becomes non responsive after splash screen. The stereo version actually starts to show the application open but does not allow me to click anything, after which it also becomes unresponsive. Very weird...

That's definitely looks like an incompatibility between the driver and Qt...

The official version of CloudCompare is compiled with Qt 5.9. But the 5.13 is already out, so it may fix this issue (who knows...).

Do you have the ability to compile CC on your side by any chance?

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the feedback. I am unfortunately not familiar with compiling, but could perhaps give it a go if you can point me in the right direction.

Hum, I'll try to compile it myself then ;)
