Suggested modifications to tracing polylines

Dear Cloud Compare forum,
I am attempting to trace 2D polylines from a point cloud, to generate floor plans.
I have experimented with the "Cross section" tool, but find some results puzzling and inconsistent, when trying different gaps.
The "Trace a polyline by point picking" does not give a 2D representation.
It is possible to trace a polyline with "Extract cloud sections along polylines..." tool, but with exasperating limitations.
With main object (Ground floor laser scan point cloud) highlit
1. Select this tool -this goes into a Section edition mode and zooms out to a very inconvenient distance (in this mode the "Zoom and centre on selected entities doesn't operate) so manual zoom in is necessary - tedious.
Remedy - please maintain previous zoom level.
2. The cursor for this operation is a hand with outstretched finger, which hides some aspects of a potential screen point.
Remedy - change cursor to a cross hair.
3. It is not possible to zoom in or out, when in trace mode, which is sometimes necessary to include fine detail.
Remedy - either enable zooming for this mode or include a continue line [+] button in the tool control panel (per the "Trace a polyline by point picking tool".
Many thanks for an excellent product.
Thales.
