Concrete Structure Deformation Analysis Using M3C2 Algorithm

Hello, I'm an undergraduate student who wants to conduct research on tunnel deformation monitoring using TLS and I want to use M3C2 for the analysis. I want to know, does the M3C2 algorithm can show us the vector of the deformation or just the scalar? And could you explain to me the meaning of positive or negative value in M3C2 distance?
Thank you!

Hi,
M3C2 will only output/display scalars.
And the sign generally depends on the orientation of the normals, and of course of the order in which you compare the points. But by default, if things are set correctly, a positive value is an addition of material, or a displacement along the surface normal, and a negative value is a subtraction of material, or a displacement opposite to the surface normal.

Dear Mr. hafizhryan,
I Like to ask you about deformation monitoring analysis and reporting using "CC". Please share you knowledge here how I can do that using TLS point cloud data.
Thank You,
Mohamed Kalifa
