State Plane Coordinate System Support

Post by consultant »

Does Cloud Compare properly preserve the State Plane Coordinate System on export? I see it translates when you open it. But I believe there is metadata embedded in the file to indicated which coordinate system (EPSG code) it is. I loaded, edited, then saved a point cloud using the default precision setting and when I tried to load the point cloud into Agisoft Metashape (previously known as Photoscan) it gave me an error about an infinite value.

So CC translates data when it loads it from the file, but then it translates it back to its original coordinate system at export time.

The issue might more probably come from the preservation of the EPSG code... You can try with the latest 2.13.alpha version (which has a different way of loading and saving LAS files) but I'm not 100% sure that it will fix this issue.
