Trouble viewing in close proximity

I have a point cloud of a trainyard (it's a .ply file, if that matters). I want to look closer at the specific tracks, but whenever I zoom in, it's really hard to see clearly. I think the problem is that the points get spread too far apart and just end up looking like a mess. I attached some images of a segment that I isolated, and I want it to look more like the black and white image. What can I do? Are there any settings that could fix this?

So, here are a few things to do or check:
- you can increase the point size with the 'interactor' that appear in the top left part of the 3D view when your mouse goes in this area
- it seems your cloud has some colors or an intensity scalar field. If it's a scalar field, you can change the color scale used to display it (to something with more contrast)
- you can also create a scalar based on the height for instance (with Edit > Scalar fields > Export coordinate(s) to SF(s))
- last, make sure to accept any suggestion by CloudCompare to shift the cloud if the cloud has very large coordinates
